Patients and doctors identify fatigue and stress as the main factors that can lead to a new herpes outbreak. This is followed by exposure to the sun and infections (fever, colds, etc.). Last of all, patients and doctors mention menstrual periods and dental care.
Warning symptoms
Tingling is the warning symptom most cited by patients and doctors. Swelling, feelings of warmth and redness are mentioned to a lesser extent. Doctors cite pain more than patients.
How to deal with the crisis
Patients mainly use a cream to treat their herpes attack. They expect their treatment to shorten the healing time and reduce the duration of the attack. While more than half of general practitioners consider the systemic route more suitable.
