According to a recent study conducted by Odoxa-MNH and published in Le Figaro Santé, more than half of French people (59%) say they sleep less well than before. However, for health professionals, the situation is even more worrying. In fact, 77% of them have observed a deterioration in their sleep in recent years.

The study also reveals that 50% of French people and two thirds of caregivers believe they suffer from insufficient sleep, both in terms of quantity and quality. While health authorities recommend at least 7 hours of sleep, the French sleep on average 6 hours and 58 minutes, while healthcare professionals only get 6 hours and 35 minutes of sleep per day.
Age and parenthood play a key role in this lack of sleep. In fact, 37% of French people and 49% of caregivers aged over 50 sleep 6 hours or less per day. In addition, parents are particularly affected, with an increase of 4 points among the French and 7 points among caregivers.

Faced with these sleep problems, many French people resort to medication. 24% of French people and 27% of healthcare professionals take products to sleep better, including 11% using sleeping pills or anxiolytics. Furthermore, 35% of French people and 54% of healthcare professionals invest in solutions to improve the quality of their sleep, in particular by choosing better bedding, optimizing the lighting in their bedroom or taking food supplements.
