An international Ipsos survey revealed in March 2024 that 55% of French people regularly think about their mental health.

Women and Generation Z

This trend is clearly increasing, particularly among women and Generation Z, where 63% consider this subject to be a priority. Stress, depression and anxiety have become daily challenges for a significant part of the population.

Stress affects a third of French people

The Dentsu Insights study shows that a third of French people suffer from disturbances due to stress and that a quarter have already gone through a depressive episode. 12% of adults over 18 have been affected by depression in the last year, according to Public Health France, and 16% of them suffered from anxiety.

A major impact on health

More importantly, 4% of adults have considered suicide. Inflation and the rising cost of living also have a major impact on the mental health of the French, with repercussions on their use of medicine and their consumption of medications.

The brake on the cost of treatment

21% of French people use medication to manage their stress or depression, while 27% rely on loved ones for support. However, the cost of treatments pushes some people to practice self-medication or to forgo medical consultations.
